The Northeast Breeder's Trust (NEBT) is how the Central New York Reining Horse Association (CNYRHA) raises purse money for its Northeast Breeder's Trust Futurity each fall - but it's built on something bigger than a fundraiser.
Every year, stallion owners from across the country donate breedings from their stallions into the NEBT Stallion Auction, which goes on for the first two weeks of February. When a stallion sells, EVERY ONE of his three year-olds from that current year's foal crop becomes eligible to enter in and compete at the NEBT Futurity, held each October at the CNYRHA Fall Classic in Syracuse, NY. There is no enrollment or nomination that follows the resulting foal from any breedings.
Since 2011, NEBT has brought national bloodlines into the Northeast reining pen, growing into one of the region's largest breeder-supported purses — and the only program of its kind.
For breeders and exhibitors in the Northeast, NEBT is a special kind of access: a chance to breed to stallions with national reputations, at an often discounted price, while promoting the venue they will come back to compete at. Purchasing your breedings through the NEBT Auction brings the money directly back to the Northeast.
For stallion owners across the country, it's outsized leverage from a single decision - one auction donation can activate an entire foal crop's shot at an established and consistently growing purse. The NEBT Futurity has proven year after year to be a phenomenal display of three-year-old talent from across the region. Plus there's real financial upside connected directly to the performance of those offspring.
For everyone, it's proof that a regional program can pull in national-caliber bloodlines, strengthen the sport locally, and give back more each year to the breeders, exhibitors, and stallion owners who make it all possible.
What began as a stallion service auction has grown, year over year, into one of the Northeast's most significant breeder-supported programs — bringing breeders, exhibitors, and stallion owners together to showcase their bloodlines for over a decade, with no signs of slowing down.
